सरदार भगतसिंह का नाम अमर शहीदों में विशेष रूप से लिया जाता है। भगतसिंह का जन्म 28 सितंबर, 1907 में पंजाब के जिला लायलपुर के बंगा गांव (जो अभी पाकिस्तान में है) के एक देशभक्त सिख परिवार में हुआ था। इनके पिता का नाम सरदार किशन सिंह और माता का नाम विद्यावती कौर था। भगत सिंह के जन्म के समय इनके पिता ‘सरदार किशन सिंह’ एवं इनके चाचा ‘अजीतसिंह’ तथा ‘स्वर्णसिंह’ अंग्रेज सरकार की खिलाफत के कारण जेल में थे। जिस दिन भगतसिंह का जन्म हुआ, उसी दिन इनके पिता एवं चाचा को जेल से रिहा किया गया था। इस तरह भगतसिंह के घर में खुशी उस दिन दोगुनी हो गई थी।
भगतसिंह के जन्म के बाद इनकी दादी ने इनका नाम ‘भागों वाला’ रखा था, जिसका अर्थ होता है’अच्छे भाग्य वाला’। बाद में इन्हें ‘भगतसिंह’ कहा जाने लगा। ये 14 वर्ष की आयु से ही पंजाब की क्रांतिकारी संस्थाओं में कार्य करने लगे थे। डी.ए.वी. स्कूल से इन्होंने नौवीं की परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण की। 1923 में इंटरमीडिएट की परीक्षा पास करने के बाद इन्हें विवाह बंधन में बांधने की तैयारियां होने लगीं तो ये लाहौर से भागकर कानपुर पहुंच गए। फिर देश को आजादी के संघर्ष में ये ऐसे रमे कि पूरा जीवन ही देश को समर्पित कर दिया।
एक अहिंसक आंदोलन में जब अंग्रेजों ने लाला लालपत राय को घोड़ो की टापों के तले रौंद दिया तो पंजाब की युवा पीढ़ी का खून उबाल खा गया। इसी तरह जलियांवाला बाग में निरपराध मासूमों पर की गई क्रूर गोलीबारी ने भी युवकों के मन में बदले की भावना को बढ़ावा दिया। जान-बूझकर सब कुछ अनदेखा करने वाली अंग्रेज सरकार को चेतावनी देने के लिए भगतसिंह ने अपने साथियों के साथ असेंबली में पहले बम का धमाका किया और फिर आत्मसमर्पण कर दिया। लेकिन अंग्रेज सरकार ने इन पर मुकदमा चलाया और इन्हें फांसी के फंदे पर चढ़ा दिया।

The name of Sardar Bhagat Singh is specially taken in the immortal martyrs. Bhagat Singh was born on September 28, 1907, in a patriotic Sikh family in Banga village of district Lyallpur in Punjab (now in Pakistan). His father’s name was Sardar Kishan Singh and his mother’s name was Vidyavati Kaur. At the time of Bhagat Singh’s birth, his father ‘Sardar Kishan Singh’ and his uncles ‘Ajit Singh’ and ‘Swarna Singh’ were in jail due to the caliphate of the British government. The day Bhagat Singh was born, his father and uncle were released from jail. Thus the happiness in Bhagat Singh’s house was doubled that day.
After the birth of Bhagat Singh, his grandmother named him ‘Bhag Wala’, which means ‘the one with good fortune’. Later he came to be called ‘Bhagat Singh’. From the age of 14, he started working in the revolutionary organizations of Punjab. DAV He passed the 9th examination from the school. After passing the Intermediate examination in 1923, preparations were being made to tie him in the marriage bond, then he fled from Lahore and reached Kanpur. Then in the struggle for independence of the country, it was such that he devoted his whole life to the country.
When the British trampled Lala Lajpat Rai under the tusks of horses in a non-violent movement, the blood of the young generation of Punjab boiled. Similarly, the brutal firing on innocent innocents in Jallianwala Bagh also encouraged the spirit of revenge in the minds of the youth. To warn the British government that it was deliberately ignoring everything, Bhagat Singh along with his comrades first detonated a bomb in the assembly and then surrendered. But the British government prosecuted them and hanged them to the gallows.
