28 जून, 1921 को आंध्रप्रदेश के बांगरा गांव में पी.वी. नरसिंह राव ( पी.वी. नरसिंह राव का पूरा नाम पामुलापति वेंकट नरसिंह राव )का जन्म हुआ था।
कांग्रेस पार्टी ने पीवी नरसिंह राव को 1991 के चुनावों में चुनाव लड़ने के लिए टिकट नहीं दिया था। वे राजनीति और दिल्ली को अलविदा कह रहे थे। लेकिन तभी परिस्थितियां बदलीं राजीव गांधी की हत्या हो गई। परिस्थितियों ने उन्हें रोककर वापस बुला लिया।
नेतृत्वविहीन हुई कांग्रेस के लिए नेता के रूप में लोगों ने पीवी नरसिंह राव का चयन कर लिया और इस तरह देश के नौवें प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में उन्होंने 21 जून, 1991 को शपथ ग्रहण की।
इससे पहले वे देश में गृहमंत्री, रक्षामंत्री विदेश मंत्री, मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्री भी रह चुके थे। लेकिन प्रधानमंत्री पद पर रहते हुए उन पर भ्रष्टाचार के आरोप लगे। उनके अपने साथियों ने ही शासन करने में कई तरह की रुकावटें पैदा कीं, लेकिन असीम धैर्य के साथ उन्होंने अपना कार्यकाल पूरा किया।
अपने अनुभवों के आधार पर देश की बदहाल अर्थव्यवस्था को भी वे डरें के पर लाए, लेकिन सेंट किट्स कांड, हर्षद मेहता कांड और झारखंड मुक्ति मोर्चा कांड में उनकी भूमिका से लोग उनके खिलाफ हो गए। 1992 में देश में बाबरी * मस्जिद का विध्वंस हुआ। इसमें भी उनकी भूमिका पर लोगों ने कई प्रकार की टिप्पणियां कीं। इससे पूरा राजनीतिक वातावरण उनके खिलाफ हो गया।
पीवी नरसिंह राव को अपनी कूटनीतिक चतुराई के कारण भारतीय राजनीति का चाणक्य कहा जाता था। वे विद्वान थे, बहुभाषाविद् थे तथा देश के पहले सुधारवादी प्रधानमंत्री थे। 21 मई, 1996 तक वे देश के प्रधानमंत्री रहे। 23 दिसंबर, 2004 को एम्स (दिल्ली) में उनका देहांत हो गया।

Prior to this, he had also been the Home Minister, Defense Minister, External Affairs Minister, Human Resource Development Minister in the country. But while in the post of Prime Minister, he was accused of corruption. His own comrades created many obstacles in the ruling, but with immense patience, he completed his term.
On the basis of his experiences, he also brought the country’s deteriorating economy to fear, but his role in the St. Kitts incident, Harshad Mehta incident, and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha incident turned people against him. In 1992, the Babri Masjid was demolished in the country. In this too, people made many comments on his role. This turned the entire political atmosphere against him.
PV Narasimha Rao was called Chanakya of Indian politics due to his diplomatic cleverness. He was a scholar, a polyglot, and was the first reformist prime minister of the country. He remained the Prime Minister of the country till May 21, 1996. He died on 23 December 2004 at AIIMS (Delhi).
