छुट्टी में हम सब अकसर नाना-नानी के घर घूमने जाते हैं। लेकिन इस बार हम सब हरिद्वार गए थे। यह यात्रा हमने ट्रेन से की। हमने वहां खूब मौज-मस्ती की। इस मस्ती में चंदन की हल्की-सी खुशबू भी मिली हुई थी। यहां बहुत कुछ ऐसा था, जो सिर्फ ऐसे तीर्थों में ही मिलता है. पिकनिक स्पॉट्स में नहीं। यहां अपने अतीत को खुली आंखों से हमने वर्तमान के रूप में देखा।
हरिद्वार बहुत ही सुंदर तीर्थस्थल है। यहां हमारे गुरुजी का आश्रम है। हरिद्वार में हम सबने हर की पौड़ी में गंगाजी में स्नान कर आरती का आनंद लिया। फिर हम गुरुजी के आश्रम गए। वहां का वातावरण अत्यंत पवित्र था। वहां बहुत कुछ ऐसा था जो हमें समझ नहीं आया, लेकिन वहां रहना हमें बहुत अच्छा लगा। वहां रहकर हमने मनसा देवी, चंडी देवी और दक्ष प्रजापति आदि प्रसिद्ध मंदिरों के दर्शन किए। हरिद्वार सच में मंदिरों की नगरी है।
दर्शनों के बाद हम हरिद्वार से कुछ ही दूरी पर स्थित ऋषिकेश भी गए। वहां राम तथा लक्ष्मण झूला नामक दो पुल हैं। ये पुल गंगा नदी पर बने हैं। पहाड़ों के बीच से बहती गंगा का दर्शन यहां बड़ा मनोरम प्रतीत होता है। यहां से खूब बड़े-बड़े पहाड़ दिखाई देते हैं।
मुझे हरिद्वार में कई नई जानकारियां मिली, जैसे- ब्रह्मा जी के पुत्र दक्ष प्रजापति ने कनखल में विशाल यज्ञ किया था, जिसके कुंड में उनकी पुत्री सती ने कूदकर अपनी जान दे दी थी, क्योंकि इस यज्ञ में उनके पति का अपमान किया गया था। वह यज्ञकुंड अभी भी वहां है। साथ ही सतोकुंड है, जिसमें अस्थियों को प्रवाहित किया जाता है।
कुंभ यहां प्रत्येक 12 साल के बाद कुंभ का मेला लगता में बहुत से साधु-संत आते हैं। हरिद्वार से लगभग कुछ ही दूरी पर बद्रीनाथ, केदारनाथ, गंगोत्री, यमुनोत्री के पवित्रधाम भी हैं।
न चाहने पर भी हमें वापस घर आना पड़ा। लेकिन हमारी यह यात्रा रोमांचक तथा यादगार रही।

During the holidays, we all often go to visit our maternal grandparents’ house. But this time we all went to Haridwar. We did this journey by train. We had a lot of fun there. A slight scent of sandalwood was also mixed in this fun. There was a lot here, which is found only in such pilgrimages. Not in picnic spots. Here we see our past as the present with open eyes.
Haridwar is a very beautiful pilgrimage site. Here is our Guruji’s ashram. In Haridwar, we all enjoyed the aarti by taking a bath in the Ganges at Har Ki Pauri. Then we went to Guruji’s ashram. The atmosphere there was very pure. There was a lot that we didn’t understand, but we enjoyed being there. Staying there, we visited famous temples like Mansa Devi, Chandi Devi, and Daksha Prajapati. Haridwar is truly a city of temples.
After darshan, we also went to Rishikesh located a short distance from Haridwar. There are two bridges named Ram and Lakshman Jhula. These bridges are built on the river Ganges. The view of the Ganges flowing through the mountains is very picturesque here. Big mountains can be seen from here.
I got much new information in Haridwar, such as Brahma Ji’s son Daksha Prajapati had performed a huge Yagya in Kankhal, in which his daughter Sati jumped and gave her life because in this Yagya her husband was insulted. That Yagyakund is still there. There is also the Satokund, in which the bones are flown.
Kumbh: After every 12 years, many sages and saints come to the Kumbh Mela. There are also holy places of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri at a short distance from Haridwar.
Even though we didn’t want to, we had to come back home. But our visit was exciting and memorable.
