दिल्ली की यातायात की समस्या को देखते हुए यहां मेट्रो का चलन किसी सम्मोहित कर देने वाले स्वप्न से कम नहीं है। मैं भी कई दिनों से सोच रहा था। कि इसमें सफर किया जाए, लेकिन ऐसा कोई संयोग ही नहीं बन पा रहा था। मुझे भी अपने परिवार के साथ मेट्रो में सफर करने का अवसर मिला।
हम अपने पास के ही स्टेशन रिठाला पहुंचे। वहां हमने टिकट काउंटर से टोकन लिया। टोकन को घुमाते ही स्टेशन पर जाने का छोटा-सा दरवाजा खुल गया। इसके बाद हम स्टेशन की ऊपरी मंजिल पर पहुंचे, जहां ट्रेन आकर रुकती है। हमारे पहुंचने के दो मिनट बाद ही ट्रेन आ गई। ट्रेन के रुकने पर उसके स्वचालित दरवाजे खुल गए।
हमने ट्रेन के डिब्बे में प्रवेश किया। डिब्बा एकदम साफ-सुथरा था। गर्मी के मौसम में भी यहां ठंड का अहसास हो रहा था। आने वाले स्टेशन की पूर्व सूचना अनाउंसर के द्वारा और स्क्रीन पर एक साथ मिल जाती थी। हम इस आनंददायक सफर को करते हुए बस अड्डा पहुंचे।
वहां उतरकर थोड़ा घूम-फिरकर हम फिर मेट्रो ट्रेन में सफर करते हुए वापस आ गए। उसके बाद हम कई बार मेट्रो में सफर कर चुके हैं, परंतु पहली बार किया गया मेट्रो का वह सफर मुझे जीवन भर याद रहेगा।
घर आने पर जब मैंने इसके बारे में और जानना चाहा, तो पता चला कि विश्व की 12वीं सबसे बड़ी इस मेट्रो प्रणाली के निर्माण की प्लानिंग 1984 में शुरू हुई थी, जिसे व्यावहारिक बाना पहनाया गया 1998 में अर्थात् इसका निर्माण 1998 में शुरू हुआ तथा इसके फर्स्ट फेस की शुरूआत 24 दिसंबर. 2002 को हो गई।
इस सफर से मुझे एक बात और समझ आई कि कोई भी व्यक्ति अपने वातावरण के अनुसार ढल जाता है कुछ अपवादों को छोड़कर मेट्रो स्टेशन जैसा वातावरण, साफ-सफाई और अनुशासन के संदर्भ में, हम सामान्य जीवन में भी क्यों नहीं बना पाते हैं। इसका मुझे उत्तर मिला- इसमें कुछ दोष हमारा है और कुछ व्यवस्था का। और फिर व्यवस्था में भी तो हम ही हैं।

Considering the traffic problem of Delhi, the running of the metro here is no less than a hypnotic dream. I too have been thinking for days. To travel in it, but no such coincidence was being made. I also got an opportunity to travel in the metro with my family.
We reached the nearest station, Rithala. There we took the token from the ticket counter. As soon as the token was rotated, a small door to go to the station opened. We entered the train compartment. The box was very clean. There was a feeling of cold here even in the summer season. The advance information of the incoming station was received by the announcer and on the screen simultaneously. We reached the bus stand while doing this enjoyable journey.
After getting down there, after walking around for a while, we came back while traveling on the metro train. After that, we have traveled in the metro many times, but I will remember that journey for the first time in my life.
When I came home, when I wanted to know more about it, I came to know that the planning for the construction of this 12th largest metro system in the world started in 1984, which was put into practical fashion in 1998, that is, its construction started in 1998 and its First phase starts on 24th December. Done in 2002.
This journey made me understand one more thing that any person adapts according to his environment. Barring a few exceptions, an environment like a metro station, in terms of cleanliness and discipline, is why we are not able to create even in normal life.
